In a statement to a leading newspaper, the U.S. tech major has confirmed that a manufacturing defect has affected few thousand devices. The said defect is draining the battery of the handset quickly, causing it to take longer to get charged. Once charged, the faulty battery has a reduced life.
The battery woes reports may upset people planning to buy iPhone 5s in India as the much-hyped device will be available here from November 1, 2013.
India is part of the third phase launch of the new iPhones. Those buying from Apple retail stores will get free personal setup service, helping them to customise their iPhones by setting up email, showing new apps from the App Store and more.
